Teaching BBC Radio Ulster presenters to speak ‘proper English’

I couldn’t resist it, earlier Hugo was on and for his daily quiz he asked…

What is of no use to a cyar, yet the cyar can’t go without it?

I rang up his show using my pseudonym, Sean from Bellaghy, and asked ” Could you ask Hugo to explain what a cyar is? I’ve heard of car and automobile but have never heard of a cyar.”

Suddenly his pronunciation of that word changed and instead of using the word cyar it became car. Sadly I didn’t listen long enough to find out the answer to the question.
