Turn Back Time
A day-long celebration of poetry, song, story & Denvir’s Hotel on 25th October 2009
Write! Down & Denvir’s Hotel, one of Co Down’s most historic locations, invite you to a unique event. Denvir’s – a coaching inn from early 1800s; associated with the United Irishmen; formerly a debtors’ sanctuary – is a place where social activities of all kinds, past and present, mingle. In the early hours of 25th October (6.30-10.30am), Write! Down writers & artists will create works of art inspired by the haunting atmosphere of Denvir’s Hotel – working through the imaginary hour that vanishes as the clocks go back.
We don’t expect you to get up so early!! But we invite you to join us for:
11.15am-1pm: Turn Back Time Readings
Readings by renowned poets, Damian Smyth, Kate Newmann & Joan Newmann
Impressions & work developed during the early morning sessions
2.30pm onwards: Turn Back Time
Lazy Sunday Afternoon with singer,
songwriter, Brigid O’Neill
Social space for readings and music. Everyone welcome and all are, as
always, invited to bring a poem/story/song of their own or a
favourite.
